COVID-19 Info

VIRTUAL ARKANSAS IS PREPARED TO HELP

Virtual Arkansas, your State Virtual Program, is prepared to assist Arkansas schools as they make response plans to the COVID-19 Pandemic.

Every school has its own unique situation. Some schools need assistance with AMI, some want to know how students in our courses can take an assessment if the school is closed, some schools even want a long term solution for ALL students in the case of an extended closure. We can help in all of these situations and more.

FREE 7-12 GRADE CONTENT ONLY OPTIONS FOR SCHOOLS WITH EXTENDED CLOSURE

If your school will be closed for an extended period of time and you want to utilize your own teachers in an online or blended learning format, we will provide your teachers and students access to the Virtual Arkansas online content, access to Canvas (the world's leading Learning Management System), and teacher training AT NO CHARGE for the remainder of the semester.

This will give your teachers, who already have a relationship established with their students, the ability to continue teaching those students from a distance during an extended schoolwide closure.

If you are expecting an extended school closure and you are interested in this option, please use the following process document to get your school set up in our content-only system.

FAQs: COVID-19 EDITION FOR CURRENT TEACHER LED VIRTUAL ARKANSAS STUDENTS & PARTNERS

Please see below the three most frequently asked questions during this time:

  • What if our school is closed for 10 days or less and the student needs to take an assessment?
    • Answer: For schools who are out for 10 days or less, students will not need access to assessments. If a student is due to take an assessment during those 10 days or less, they will be allowed to bypass the assessment and move on to the next module. The students  can then access and take the assessment upon return to school.
  • What if our school is closed for more than 10 days and the student needs to take an assessment?
    • Answer: If a school is closed more than 10 school days, those students will be allowed to take the test out of Respondus Lockdown Browser. Students in this situation will be required to join a designated Zoom room to take the assessment with their web camera on while being observed by a Virtual Arkansas teacher or other trained personnel.
